What is Habitat for Humanity?

Habitat for Humanity PEI is a non-profit organization working toward an Island where everyone has an opportunity to live in a safe, good, and affordable home. With the help of our generous volunteers, the organization has provided 72 families with safe, decent, and affordable housing throughout Prince Edward Island. Habitat for Humanity PEI is one of 54 affiliates of Habitat for Humanity Canada.

What is the Restore?

The ReStore is a home décor, building supply, and home renovation store that accepts and resells new and gently used items. Proceeds from the ReStore fund the mission of Habitat for Humanity PEI, which is to construct Habitat homes for hard-working families in the province. Supporting the ReStore helps deserving Island families achieve the dream of homeownership.

The Floor Supervisor stewards the completion of daily tasks and ensures that all policies and procedures are observed and carried out appropriately. This team member is often the first point of contact for the donors, shoppers, and volunteers at the ReStore and has excellent customer service skills. They have a professional demeanor and are always looking to make the front of the store more organized and efficient. They have an eager attitude which enables them to be a productive member of the team who also brings innovative and solution-focused perspectives to various issues that affect operations.


The Floor Supervisor is responsible and accountable for the implementation, efficiency, and continuous improvement of the Customer Experience. This responsibility is to be implemented in collaboration with the Assistant Manager. This position has keys to the building and security code access

The ReStore Floor Supervisor is responsible for the following duties:*

Cash Management

  • Demonstrate and foster – by example – a bias for unfailing accuracy in ReStore cash management that is in strict accordance with established ReStore protocols and procedures.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with all cash management processes. Including opening, closing, counting, balancing, cash float auditing, preparing the bank deposit, and managing petty cash.
  • Demonstrate healthy respect for the importance of refunds, in-store credits, and discounts related to the profitability of the ReStore.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with general store opening/closing procedures and checklists. Be thoroughly familiar with all ReStore operational policies.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with card payment processing systems and utilize such analytics as required. As well as the Secure Retail Point of Sale (POS) system inclusive of both general operations, analytics, and troubleshooting.

Customer Service

  • Provide excellent customer service; anticipate customer needs; nurture a welcoming environment for customers, volunteers, and staff. Commitment to respectful and appreciative interaction with our ReStore customers.
  • Work as part of a cohesive team to meet/exceed established sales targets.
    Be generally familiar with processes to schedule all donation pick-up requests and assist with transportation logistics.
  • Execute a solution-based, positive, and respectful approach in resolving customer concerns or issues and escalating to the Assistant Manager or ReStore Manager on an exception basis.
  • Direct the merchandising of donated goods to maximize sales. Will marshal and coordinate appropriate volunteer levels to support the same.
  • Supervise all volunteers and salesfloor staff on the sales floor, ensuring appropriate levels of coverage and support. Ensure they are fully apprised of all sales promotions, events, or ReStore happenings as may occur from time to time. Ensure they are aware of the location of merchandise and are committed to the delivery of exceptional customer service.
  • Undertake any other such duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Able to lift at least 50lbs
  • Will be available to work approximately 40 hours per week, including Saturdays
  • Requires the physical ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods. This individual must stand, stoop, bend, and grasp
  • Will perform other duties as directed by store management Bondable
